PARIS: 2007, 2015

The sidewalks of Paris reflect the heart and soul of the city. Paris is about.....
WINE
Every November, Paris celebrates the new vintage of wine. In cafés, bistros, shops, the posters announce "Le beaujolais nouveau est arrivé" - the new wine has arrived.

Fashion

Loved the peacock feathers at the end of the neck chain.
Little black dress.

House of Elie Saab

Fashion, art, wine are almost inseparable in Paris. During fashion week - which is themed - art installations pop up all over the city. The theme in 2015 was "colors".

One of the most popular installations in 2015 was this walk-in kaleidoscope. There are pictures of it on the Paris: "Art of Paris" page. You can also see how the Eiffel Tower looks in pink or green on Paris: "Iconic Sites" click on the link.
Style
In 2007 our hotel was just a short walk away from the Eiffel Tower, in the 7th arron-disement. Paul and I loved walking the neighborhood streets, admiring the ironwork.

The French have gated entries and security windows, the difference is, the French do it with "style."

Even the subways have style in Paris.

Ah yes - the light in Paris!
Charming
shops

Yes - it's a butcher shop - and - yes, as the horse head implies, they sold horsemeat - but - still - a charming shop!

Can see myself in here, having a chocolate croissant and a cappuccino.

Shops and cobblestone streets in the Marais.

Abodes

Formerly a house, now a museum on Boulevard Haussman

Lapin Agile, a cabaret in the Montmartre, was a favorite
hangout for Picasso, Modigliani, and Utrillo.
Picasso popularized the cabaret by naming one of his works, Au Lapin Agile.

Pigeon quarters.

To find "real" Parisians, head to the banks of the Seine

First begun in Paris "love padlocks" - lovers' names are usually on the locks and the key is thrown into the river to symbolize unbreakable love.
These "lovelocks" were collapsing Paris' bridge rails, so they are periodically removed. The practice continues around the world - I have seen them in San Simeon and Leffingwell Cove in Cambria.
